Chapter 1: How You Approach Life and How You Appear To Others
Cautious, prudent, and rather self-contained, you are a person who approaches life realistically and who is not inclined to take foolish chances or get carried away by the overly optimistic or idealistic schemes of starry-eyed dreamers. In fact, you frequently have a jaundiced view of such things. You are rather worldly-wise at a fairly young age, even something of a cynic. Often the world doesn’t seem like a safe, friendly place to you, and you tend to approach life in a guarded, conservative manner. You are generally calculating and careful, and are rarely spontaneous, fluid, open, and childlike. You are pragmatic, shrewd, and an excellent strategist, carefully planning your moves for maximum effectiveness and advantage. You are willing to work long and persistently for what you want and you often do things the hard way. You do not expect others to take care of you and sometimes refuse or simply don’t seek any outside help. You are often very ambitious, but quietly so. There is nothing flamboyant or flashy about your approach. You are very responsible, conscientious, and very concerned with your duties to others and how you appear in society, your “rank” so to speak. To others you seem mature, serious, quiet, reflective, and emotionally detached. You dislike sloppy sentimentality and won’t openly display your feelings, especially the softer ones. You like to always appear poised and in control and hate to show any weakness, vulnerability, or chinks in the armor. You respect tradition and the time-honored way of doing things, and you feel there is much to be gained from studying history and also by learning from older, more experienced people. A wise mentor or father is often your guide in life, and you in turn develop a great deal of hard-earned wisdom which you like to impart to younger people. You have a stern, authoritarian, no-nonsense aspect to your personality. You expect much from yourself and may not give yourself enough room to experiment and make mistakes. You also tend to be rather close-fisted, to save and conserve your money and resources rather than spending, enjoying, or splurging with them. You spend money on things of quality and of lasting value, things which are good investments, but not frivolous, temporary pleasures. There is a bit of the ascetic in you. You have great self-discipline and self-control and can “do without” very well. Your tastes are generally understated and simple. Though you may have other, more colorful and imaginative sides, the face you show the world is modest and rather conservative.
Chapter 2: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation
Sun in Capricorn:
Serious, disciplined, and quietly ambitious, you are driven to prove yourself and to achieve material
accomplishments and success. Your work, your position in the world, and your contributions to society are very important to you. You will persevere through enormous hardship and frustration in order to reach a goal you have set for yourself, and you often sacrifice much in the area of personal relationships and home life in order to do so. You have a thoughtful, quiet, and self-contained disposition and do not readily show your inner feelings and needs. You seem to be always in control, capable, efficient, and strong. You are often the person in the family or group who is given more responsibility (and more work) than the others. You are highly conscientious and even as a child you possessed a maturity, soberness, and worldly wisdom that was most unchildlike.
You are basically a pragmatic realist, and though you may have all sorts of dreams, ideals and colorful
theories, you feel that the ultimate test of a concept is its practical usefulness. You have an innate shrewdness and business sense, and there is a bit of the cynic in you as well. You are clear-headed, detached and objective, and are not swayed by emotional dramatics. Often you are authoritarian – strictly fair, but without mercy. You have a great respect for tradition and even if you do not agree with certain laws, you will abide by them or work to change them, but never flagrantly disregard them. Careful and conservative, you play by the rules.
You are subtle, understated, quiet, deep, not easy to know intimately, and never superficial. You are a modest person and sometimes overly self-critical. Giving yourself (and others) permission to feel, to play, to be spontaneous and silly, and to be weak and vulnerable sometimes, isn’t easy for you. Your strong points are your depth and thoroughness, patience, tenacity, and faithfulness. Your faults are a tendency to be rigid and inflexible, and too serious.
Sun in 12th house:
You tend to get involved in the helping professions or in activities where your efforts are hidden, behind the scenes, unacknowledged, or unknown to the public. Asserting yourself or getting up in front of an audience may be exceedingly uncomfortable for you.
Sun Conjunct Mercury:
You tend to see things from your perspective only and to be rather subjective. You also enjoy talking and expressing your views but you don’t always listen as well. You have a clear mind, a love of learning and new experiences, and need constant mental stimulation and activity.
Sun Square Neptune:
You are extremely sensitive and imaginative, and you can get lost in your dreams, fantasies, and visions. You are attracted to artistic and creative pursuits, the world of color, beauty, and emotion. You are also drawn to mysticism and have deep spiritual aspirations and yearnings. Gentle and peace-loving, you may lack the will and competitive spirit needed to make your way in the world. You are often impractical and may seek to avoid or escape the hard realities of life.
Chapter 3: Mental Interests and Abilities
Mercury in Capricorn:
Clear, objective, and realistic, you are unimpressed by exaggerated claims or promises. You insist upon being shown facts to back up any statement you hear, and your natural skepticism often borders on cynicism. You approach problems clearly and rationally and maintain your poise and objectivity even in the midst of critical situations. Anyone seeking your advice is certain to get an unemotional and unbiased assessment of their situation, and you therefore make a good arbitrator or judge. You are thorough, conscientious, and disciplined in your thinking, and have an aptitude for business, organization, and administration. You are also a good strategist, and will plan and patiently follow a realistic course which will lead to your eventual success. Serious-minded and studious, you enjoy quiet time alone for thinking or reading.
Mercury in 12th house:
You don’t speak up readily, even when you have a lot to say! Also, your mind tends to drift and you find it difficult to study very factual material that doesn’t have much color or imaginative appeal. Your intuition and first impressions are likely to be quite accurate, however, and you tend to depend upon this faculty in making decisions.
Mercury Conjunct Venus:
You appreciate aesthetics and have a fine sense of form, design, and beauty. You could develop considerable technical skill as an artist, designer, craftsman, or creative writer. You could also sell objects of beauty – artistic products, cosmetics, jewelry, etc. You have the ability to please and harmonize well with others and tend to ameliorate relationships between people. Your sense of humor, tact, and personal charm are of great benefit to you in any work with people on a one-to-one level.
Mercury Square Neptune:
Your mind is highly imaginative and creative and you possess dramatic, artistic, or musical abilities. As a child, you enjoyed daydreaming, fantasizing, pretending, and probably lived in “your own little world” a good deal. You perceive things which are not obvious to other people and you have an uncanny ability to “read” people and situations without being told anything about them. However, you must learn to discriminate between a true psychic perception and your imagination. Learning to discipline and focus your mind is necessary if you wish to use all of your creative potential. Otherwise, you could be simply a dreamer. Communication with others is difficult for you because you often find words frustrating and inadequate to express your experiences and perceptions. Also, you may purposefully mystify or deceive others.
Chapter 4: Emotions: Moods, Feelings, Romance
Moon in Cancer:
You respond very much to the emotional tone and atmosphere around you, and can be dominated by your
fluctuating and unpredictable moods. You often appear irrational to others because you cannot always explain the reason or source of your feelings. Anyone who lives with you must accept your ups and downs and appreciate your need for times of withdrawal. You are also very sympathetic and understand the unspoken feelings and needs of others. You take slights and rebuffs very personally and though you may forgive a transgression by a friend or loved one, you never forget it.
Moon in 6th house:
You have a sympathetic nature and instinctively reach out to people in need of help. You also have a deeply ingrained tendency to want to improve or “fix” other people’s lives, which can be annoying to the person who has no desire to be changed or “helped” in this way. For you, affection and caring must be expressed in tangible acts or service of some kind.
Moon Conjunct Jupiter:
You are tolerant and forgiving, always ready to overlook mistakes and give others a second chance. You
expect the best from people and draw it out of them, and you enjoy making others comfortable and happy.
Because of your emotional generosity, your life is rich with friends, and often financial blessings as well.
Venus in Capricorn:
You are definitely not one to wear your heart on your sleeve. You care very much about others’ opinions and crave love and appreciation as much as anyone, but one would never know it from your reserved and seemingly detached appearance. Casual, superficial relationships don’t interest you at all. You are cautious and serious about love and really desire a deep, genuine, lasting love. You are old-fashioned about courtship and love, and will remain faithful to your loved one in good times and in bad. You may be attracted to persons older than yourself, someone who is emotionally mature and reliable and who can provide the security you desire.
Venus in 12th house:
You often hide your affection, or find your feelings difficult to express or get across to the person you love. Being openly affectionate and trusting often doesn’t seem safe to you. You may feel your love won’t be
appreciated or reciprocated. You may get involved in secret love affairs or fall in love with a person who is quite unavailable to you. Love and sacrifice often seem to go hand in hand for you – having to give something up to be with the one you love, or having to relinquish some person or some aspect of an important love relationship.
Chapter 5: Drive and Ambition: How You Achieve Your Goals
Mars in Sagittarius:
You are aspiring, enterprising, and forever following some bright and distant star, planning some new venture or investigating new potentials. You are definitely “upwardly mobile” in either a material or spiritual sense (or both). You aim high and are not content simply with a quiet, secure existence. You like to stretch your limits, to see how far you can go, and to take risks. You are a positive thinker, expect success for yourself, and are philosophical about failures. You are flexible and bounce back from disappointment rather quickly, usually with another hopeful new idea you want to try. Your enthusiasm and confidence are contagious and enable you to enlist the aid and support you need for your projects. However, you sometimes promise more than you can actually achieve, due to over-optimism or insufficient attention to the practicalities involved. You also tend to get distracted and to have too many things going at once. Although it is very difficult for you, there are times when you simply must develop commitment, perseverance, and persistence in order to make your dreams and goals a concrete reality. Too often you fall short of what you could attain because you are unwilling to persist through the difficult or less exciting times. You also enjoy competition and usually do not take it too seriously. Either sports or entrepreneurship would be good ways to channel your energy.
Mars in 10th house:
You are likely to be known for your drive, energy, ambition, and competitive spirit. A successful career based on your ability to take initiative, be a leader, or excel in physical strength and prowess is likely. You most definitely want to be a winner and will work hard to achieve that.
Mars Opposition Saturn:
You work hard and patiently to achieve your objectives, persevering and continuing on in spite of difficulties and discouragement. Concentrating on a single, clearly defined goal, you are able to accomplish much, but you often feel that the way is long and arduous, and that you must struggle on alone, that it’s all on your shoulders. You are capable of great self-control and self-denial and can be a hard task master, expecting far too much of yourself. You also tend to hold yourself back, to doubt your own power and ability. You feel that you meet with great resistance whenever you try to assert yourself or take initiative. Anger and frustration can be big problems for you, especially when you try to work with other people or depend too much on others for support. You work best in solitude.
Mars Opposition Uranus:
Intensely restless, dynamic, and energetic, you are always on the go. When you want something, you want it NOW, and you act decisively, impulsively, sometimes hastily and prematurely. Impatient, high-strung, and often nervous and tense, you find it difficult to slow down, pace yourself, or relax. You are fiercely individualistic and independent, self-willed and intolerant of restraints and restrictions imposed by others. You have a reckless disregard for authority and can be extremely rebellious. Cooperating with others is not your strong point! You are often brutally frank and abrupt with people, and can be quite impersonal when you are pursuing a desired goal. You may have an explosive temper when your will is blocked. You have a superabundance of energy and need much personal freedom to do things in your own style and at your own pace.
Mars Trine Pluto:
You have a strong sense of mission and you instinctively know that to achieve anything great, one must
eliminate superfluous activities, and give oneself wholly to the goal one wishes to accomplish. Your zeal,
enthusiasm, and clarity of purpose enable you to succeed and to achieve whatever you aim for. You have a strong will, but you are usually quiet and understated about it.
Chapter 6: Other Influences
Jupiter in Cancer:
You make others feel accepted and comfortable. You have a knack for breaking down feelings of alienation and you make others feel included and a part of group activities. You have a loving, protective side that wants to take care of everyone. Creating a supportive atmosphere that is nourishing both to yourself and to others is one of your strengths. Also, your home and heritage are important to you, and you maintain close connections to your past.
Jupiter in 6th house:
You have a positive and constructive attitude toward work and what other people might consider drudgery. You enjoy helping people improve their lives, and the more service you render, the more benefits and rewards you find coming back to you. Promoting health in some manner is a very good avenue for you.
Saturn in Gemini:
You doubt your own intelligence and mental capacities, and you may work very hard at studies in order to compensate for this. You are often overly serious and disinterested in light or superficial conversation. Spontaneous communication, social give-and-take, and making small talk are likely to be difficult for you.
Saturn in 4th house:
Your childhood or your relationship with your parents was restrictive, unloving, or unhappy in ways that may prevent you from allowing other people to get close to you in later life. You felt deprived in some manner, whether or not you actually were deprived in some way. Emotional separations or repression of your needs and feelings may typify your early life, at least as you remember it. Forgiving your parents and/or letting go of any resentments you have about the limitations you experienced early in your life is crucial. Also, you need to build your own solid foundation, and investing time and energy into your home, domestic relationships, and inner life can help you accomplish this.
Saturn Conjunct Uranus:
You are serious and sincere about your interests, you do not accept superficial answers, and you are not easily placated. You want to bring your inspirations into concrete reality, and you don’t mind upsetting some apple carts if necessary. You become impatient with others for being hesitant to implement new ideas and take action, and your occasional outbreaks of brusque, insensitive behavior often do more harm than good.
Saturn Sextile Pluto:
You are capable of overcoming tremendous odds, and of enormous self-discipline and focus. When you set
your sights on achieving something or are presented with a thorny challenge, it is your capacity for eliminating the superfluous, getting along with very little, and riding through tough times that enables you to triumph eventually.
Uranus in Gemini:
You are part of a 7 year group of people who are progressive and creative thinkers. Academic achievement is high and academic standards are higher with your age group than with others. You are a curious and inquisitive bunch, and many discoveries and clever insights are brought forth from your age group. The love of learning never dies with your age group, and your curiosity and inquisitiveness does not wane in later life, as is common with others.
Uranus in 4th house:
Your childhood or your relationship with your parents was unsettling or unstable in some way, so that you may never have felt that you had firm ground beneath your feet. One of your parents may have been unusual, eccentric, or an inconstant influence in your life. Abrupt changes in location or in family relationships may have made you feel insecure, but positively you were given more freedom and less pressure to conform to
conventions, which enables you to be more of an individual and less tethered to restrictive ideas of how one “should” behave, feel, or live.
Uranus Trine Neptune:
You were also born during a period that lasted approximately 5 years and is characterized by an unusually high degree of imagination, intuition, and sensitivity. You are part of a group of people who are very inspired. Your age group is rather zealous and enthusiastically rallies behind new visions and ideals for society. You succeed in bringing a breath of fresh air into the arts and religions, and you inspire new ideals and goals for nations as well. You are part of a creative group that can do much to inspire a fresh vision and renewed hope for others.
Neptune in Libra:
You are part of a 14 year group of people who have a very idealistic sense of brotherhood and universal cooperation, which, among other things, fostered the peace and freedom movement. Your age group is also
interested in the spiritual philosophy and ideals of other cultures, and is not at all dogmatic in its approach to religion. You incorporate the approaches of other religions. Your age group tends to have an eclectic approach to religion, utilizing elements from many religious perspectives (e.g. Eastern and Western), and finds it difficult to follow traditionally defined religious practices. A gullibility and an unwillingness to be decisive and judgmental inclines your age group to be easily deceived, and consequently many of the well-intended ideals and goals are frustrated by a lack of clear purpose and direction.
Neptune in 8th house:
You have a very active imagination and powerful fantasies. You may develop an interest in the supernatural, psychic phenomena, or occult subjects. You may have strange fantasies and/or nebulous fears of “ghosts”, “the astral plane”, or death. It’s better for you not to dabble in such areas unless you are thoroughly grounded in the practical world as well.
Pluto in Leo:
You are part of a 20 year period that is often referred to as the “ME” generation, a generation that has a very proud and self-reliant attitude. You are a generation that is very concerned with self-development and personal integrity. Women’s rights and minority rights are issues that your generation has fostered and they reflect your concern with individual respect, integrity, and honor. Your age group has a deeply felt sense that each person has an equal right and opportunity to fully develop his or her inner potential.
However, your group also finds it difficult to be part of a team and a strong egotism makes group efforts difficult; you tend to see the individual as more important than the group. You also defy authority and often feel that no one has the right to tell you what to do. The strong movement to refuse drafting into the military is one example of your age group’s strong sense of individual rights and freedom. Your age group has popularized the idea of self-development, and has contributed a great deal to the development of individual potential as well as human rights. However, there is also a tendency to be rather self-centered; others may wonder how you can spend so much time developing yourselves and have so little time to contribute to your families! The interest in personal development also sometimes manifests as a fascination with particular individuals and a great deal of hero worship. Every generation, of course, has lots of idols, but your generation is particularly prone to needing a specific individual to represent and embody an idea or feeling, and to serve as a focal point of interest. Perhaps the most extreme example of this is the concept of the guru that was popularized by your age group.
Pluto in 7th house:
Emotional intensity, compulsive attraction, and a sense of fate or destiny characterize your one-to-one relationships. It’s as if you simply cannot have light, superficial relationships; they are inevitably profound, intense experiences which reveal your depths to you. You may be drawn to powerful, charismatic, willful people that challenge, thwart, and ultimately evoke your own power and strengths. Your marriage is likely to be the arena for your greatest growth.
