Symbolism in Tower tarot card

The Tower is square and the crown being knocked off is circular, symbolising that the knocking off the crown was exactly what was needed as a circle will never fit comfortable on a square in the first place. The 22 flames represent the 22 Major Arcana cards. The gray clouds symbolise the divine thought of “God” coming forth from source with a great desire to manifest the unmanifest. Gray symbolise a matter suppressed and in fear of exposure. The lightning symbolises bolts of truths. The lightning travels from left to right, symbolising the subconscious reaching the conscious, denoting a sudden awakening episode. The tower built on the uneven mountain represents ambition built on unsound premises. The two figures seeing falling to either side, a man in a blue tunic and a woman in a red cape, are Adam and Eve, freed from the chains seen in the Devil card. The background is black which links it further to the Devil card which has the same dark setting. The nigredo seen in the Devil card is now being cleansed and purified with fire, wind, and rain.

Tower tarot card and Astrology

Tower tarot card meanings upright

Tower in a general reading

The Tower tarot card represents disaster, emotional ‘meltdowns’ and/or tantrums, anger issues, upheaval and sudden change that are caused by disruption and revelations rocking the foundation of the person, household, organisation or even country, depending on the nature of the question. When the Tower is showing up it lets you know that you must face the truth about a situation or an issue to be able to have positive changes in your life. Living in illusion is not going to work. You might fall off cloud nine and rediscover who you are; someone who is less likely to be fooled, lied to or taken advantage of. You are a whole lot less naive after the shocking effect of the Tower tarot card. The Tower shows up to free you from what is enslaving you. Shattering as it is, it also gives you flashes of genius and aha moments. The moments of truth act as a catalyst for spiritual awakening and when the run of emotions are dulling down you will look back and see it all happened for the best. In the long run, the Tower will save you from a spiritual and emotional destitute.

What would the Tower and The World card mean together?

  2. Inger Bråthen May 28, 2016 at 7:41 am

This card combination can mean a very competitive environment that shakes up the Seeker’s world. In travel, this card combination can mean the seeker will go somewhere they feel very out of place.

What would the tower and the queen of cups cards mean together as future/outcome? Future card being the tower and outcome card being the queen of cups?

  4. Inger Bråthen November 10, 2016 at 2:49 pm

The tower could suggest an emotional event that rocks your foundation, but also spiral you towards a more spiritual and intuitive way of living (since queen of cups is the final card)….

  7. Inger Bråthen February 4, 2017 at 3:53 pm

Hi, it can mean a surprise that ends up being a wonderful thing even though you might not see at such to start with 🙂

  8. Shelbi February 12, 2017 at 5:54 pm

Hello, I recently did a reading, and got the Tower Reversed as outcome, with the World next to it. With regards to returning to an unrequited love, involving a move as well. Thank you!!

  9. Inger Bråthen February 14, 2017 at 3:30 pm

Hi, I feel like the move will go well. The Tower is you learning to ride the waves of emotions that can be overwhelming. You are keeping together and you are changing your life for the better. I feel like you will be able to communicate properly how you really feel and getting things off your chest that have been bothering you. Once you have done this, you will have completion and you will feel so much better.

Hello There Inger, In regards to somebody’s feelings, how would you describe the tower and page of swords ,i posted a snapchat of me and a male friend together as friends? (the person in question is also male and i am female)

  11. Inger Bråthen March 7, 2017 at 9:49 am

The tower with page of swords can mean that someone got upset and tries to find out more information about the situation.

  12. JANE March 17, 2017 at 2:09 am

The tower always unnerves me. I did seven. PAGE WANDS DEATH, 3 OF SWORDS AND TOWER. KING OF PENTACLES 7 WANDS AND 2 SWORDS. I am single so not break up. My mum is terminal. Might be it. My job stable. I am broke though. I just don’t now. Flummoxed. I know page of wands next to death means positive change but then 3 swords reinforces a sorrow due to change and the tower says something that scares me frankly. The tower next to pentacles suggest something bad in my job, but everything positive in this respect. But hard work and choices pending. Mostly because of the hideous death 3 swords and tower. This is third time 3 swords and tower showed up in a month. What is the message?

  13. Inger Bråthen March 17, 2017 at 7:15 am

Jane, the cards are telling that now is a time for you to spend with you mom as much as you can, because you might have regrets, especially if you have unfinished business. This process will be an awakening for you on a spiritual level that will actually help you in your career, as you will mature into a leadership role. Now is the time to clear out things, especially unresolved issues from the past. 🙂 Then you will have peace.

  14. JANE March 17, 2017 at 1:26 pm

Thank you so much for replying. It means that exactly. I don’t know why I didn’t see that. I am writer and writing about her actually. Very generous of you to respond. That woke me up Inger. Merci x

  15. Inger Bråthen March 18, 2017 at 2:42 am

Love and Light to you and your Mom! 🙂

  16. Jennifer April 17, 2017 at 2:17 am

    HI Inger!

What does the Tower + Wheel of Fortune mean in a reading? I had a reading done and the lady said in June I’d have the Tower and then the Wheel of Fortune?

    Thank you so much!

  17. Inger Bråthen April 17, 2017 at 6:50 am

Hi, Jennifer. I most likely will be a shakeup in your life that will turn out good for you in the long run 🙂

  18. Jennifer April 18, 2017 at 4:48 am

    Hi Inger again!

Thank you once again for answering my first question, I have another question, I received a tower + ace of cups reading for the 1st week of August, and a 2 of Cups + Queen of Cups reading for the 2nd week of August. On your chart it says Tower + Ace of Cups = An unexpected pregnancy. I can say with 100% surety that I will not be pregnant (abstinent and not in a relationship) lol, can this have another literal meaning? Also, the 2 of cups + Queen of Cups … do you know what that might mean.

    Thank you!

  19. Inger Bråthen April 18, 2017 at 7:26 am

Hi, Jennifer. Tower and ace of cups can also be a new relationship that will shake up your world…:) Two of cups next to Queen of cups can indicate you will fall in love in August and it will be a rush of emotions…:)

  20. Debbie April 30, 2017 at 5:10 am

What does the tower, the ace of pentacles and 3 of wands mean. I asked for an answer about a new job I’m supposed to start and am feeling I shouldn’t but I’m unemployed. What do these 3 cards tell me about my situation.

  21. Inger Bråthen April 30, 2017 at 5:18 am

It might be a bit stressful, to begin with, but then I feel it will lead you to something new that you will really enjoy.

  22. Amber May 1, 2017 at 9:43 am

Hi, I pulled Tower, Five of Swords, and Queen of Culs in regard to a relationship. Asked if I should stay with him, and got those cards, can you tell me what this means, please?

  23. Shannon May 9, 2017 at 1:28 am

I’ve been trying to find what it means for the upright 04 of cups and the reversed tower in a love reading. Do you have any insight?

  24. Ekkleen May 10, 2017 at 12:49 am

Hi i pulled 2 cards, the 1st one was the tower and the other one was three of pentacles. What does it means in career? Should I stick to my career or should i change it?

  25. Inger Bråthen May 10, 2017 at 7:05 am

Now might not be the best time to change career. I do feel things will improve where you are now….the tower is clearing a path for you and things will get better soon, I feel….

  26. Inger Bråthen May 10, 2017 at 7:28 am

Hi, this can mean that one person is hiding some hurt and heartache and is not letting it out…possibly internalising his/hers feelings…and wants/needs more communication about what is the core of the issue…

  27. Joanna Brannock May 14, 2017 at 9:52 pm

Hi I got the 9 swords ace of penticles and tower in a reading what does this mean please

  28. Inger Bråthen May 18, 2017 at 3:47 pm

Depends on the question, but something is causing stress in your life and it could be alot of pressure on you, especially in career.

  29. Ness May 19, 2017 at 4:04 am

What about the combination of ten of wands paired with the tower card, relationship wise?

  30. Inger Bråthen May 19, 2017 at 2:24 pm

Ten of wands with the tower speak of focusing on the spiritual bond between you. This relationship will change you both.
