Ten of swords tarot card meanings summary

When Ten of swords shows up in your tarot cards it denotes a time when you are faced with endings of some sorts. You might even feel grief and sorrow. This is a time when you must face up to change. Ten of swords shows up when the seeker has invested themselves into a way of thinking which turned out to longer serve them. Their beliefs might have been proven wrong or they realise they can no longer go on the way they used to. There has to be a renewal. You either renew yourself or peril, sink or swim. Things can no longer stay the same.

I often see Ten of swords in a reading when someone is retired or unemployed. For some people retiring is tiring. Ten of swords shows up when the seeker needs to renew themselves and realise the world still needs them. One way or the other life will get interesting again. It doesn’t have to be through work. It can be anything the seeker wants it to be.

I got the ten of swords for a couple of days repeatedly, and was wondering what the heck might be coming. Then I got a last-minute call from my health clinic that I was scheduled to see their chiropractor. This was my first visit to a chiropractor and I had no idea what to expect. I can assure that the image on the classic ten of swords tarot card (Rider-Waite deck) illustrated my chiropractic experience quite well!

King of cups and 10 of swords in a general read. Ace of pentacles before the king of cups. I’m stumped

  3. Inger Bråthen November 4, 2016 at 4:28 am

Hi, Kings with any of the 10s are generally a good sign, as it denotes success. The 10 of swords can mean the success will create some stress in the seeker’s life…

  5. Inger Bråthen December 18, 2016 at 11:19 am

Hi, Raj. The ten of swords and the World are connected. Ten of swords speaks of something coming to an end in your life, and the World speaks of completion. You get the Judgement as a block, which could mean you are meant to go deeper within your life purpose, and when you do, this will bring you your soulmate….You also get a lot of the 2s showing up, which means your heart will lead you straight to this person. The more you start following your heart, the closer you will get to your soulmate….:)
    Cheers, Ingie

I did a Celtic cross reading and my first three cards were the ten of swords the death card and the king of swords… what does it mean? I didn’t ask any question in particular. Just what do the cards wish me to know at this time…

  7. Inger Bråthen February 19, 2017 at 2:48 pm

This card combination can mean you have outgrown a situation in your life. Don’t hold on to people from the past or previous situation that you were attached to that ultimately are holding you back. Start something fresh. Time to do some spring cleaning, take out the garbage, and begin anew.

  8. Callie April 2, 2017 at 7:02 am

I did a relationship past, present and future reading. …For someone I fell in love with a long time ago….felt an incredible connection with him, almost telepathic, although nothing physical. But he suddenly turned his back on me…. he was committed to someone else.
Past was two of cups, present 10 of swords ( 🙁 and I feel like that man lying dead) and lovers in future. There is no chance of even seeing this person, he hundreds of miles away in a very happy life…. I thinks

  9. Callie April 2, 2017 at 7:21 am

I know I need to move on…. I know no joy without him. What is the last card saying??

  10. Inger Bråthen April 3, 2017 at 2:00 am

The Lovers card as the last card is telling you that you will end up with the right person, your highest and best, most compatible soulmate, and then you will have joy again 🙂

  11. Callie April 3, 2017 at 8:03 am

    Thank you!
I meditated a long time and only chose the cards after I felt the ‘energy’ of the ‘universe’ in me and around me and the cards….and I asked God and that energy and anyone who was tuned in to speak to me through the cards. I told them how lost and defeated I felt and that I seek direction and need to know that everything will be okay. I can’t describe it because I haven’t felt it too many times before but I’m sure as a tarot reader you know what I’m talking about. Thank you for your answer. My silly heart still thinks it is him… but that’s why it’s 10 of swords now!

  12. Keisha April 7, 2017 at 6:06 am

Hi, I did a 3 card spread asking about future love and children. In the past I received a three of swords, in the present I received a 10 of swords, and in the future I received the Moon. What I can gather from this reading, is that the three of swords represents my past pain, the Ten of Swords represents my pain soon coming to an end, and the Moon represents possibilities?
I appreciate any help that you can provide. Thank you.

  13. Inger Bråthen April 8, 2017 at 10:28 am

The Moon means there is creativity in your life and you will be able to use your creativity to work through what has been painful in your past.

  14. CAT April 16, 2017 at 11:22 am

Ten of Swords Ace of Pentacles and Two of Swords – this seems ominous. Was told it represented physical, mental and spiritual. But I’m not seeing the connection.

  15. Inger Bråthen April 17, 2017 at 7:01 am

Hi. I feel this card combination is telling you that you need to clear your mind of any clutter. There is more responsibility in your life and more demands could be put on you, therefore, the cards are saying to do some meditation and clear your mind from any clutter. I feel there is a positive surprise as well just around the corner.

  16. Julie May 1, 2017 at 11:38 am

I had a 10 of swords, a 3 of cups reversed and judgement reversed. My husband and i want to sell up and retire. Maybe go travelling on the road, but i didnt understand what the cards were trying to tell me.

  17. Lucy May 20, 2017 at 7:39 pm

Hi – I pulled 10 of wands, 10 swords and 8 wands in regards to happiness and current state of mind. Could you kindly clarify this for me please 🌟🌟

  18. Inger Bråthen May 22, 2017 at 10:24 am

When you get two times ten of a suit next to each other then there could be a relationship bringing you happiness. If single, it could be a new relationship happening that will change how you look at things and that will bring you new energy and joy.

  19. Algol June 4, 2017 at 10:41 pm

‘Will we ever resolve our problems & come together again’ was my query. 10 Swords, Emperor & Wheel of Fortune was my answer. Any insights? I am Aries, he is Libra. Thank you.

  20. Inger Bråthen June 5, 2017 at 6:25 am

Yes, you can. Wheel of Fortune signifies you will get an opportunity to right the wrongs.

  21. Tifet June 11, 2017 at 3:36 pm

Hi Inger! I did a reading for a couple to know if their relationship is going nowhere/to end and I got 6 of swords, 10 of Swords and 5 of swords. I don’t see this as a good thing. Too much swords and also the readings I’ve been asked to do about this before, often the Devil comes up. Any thoughts? Thank you so much!! 😙

  22. Kyo June 14, 2017 at 1:11 am

I had a dream about the 10 of Cups and the 10 of Swords. I’m thinking this has a lot to do with my family life and that, even though I want things to be rosy and happy with my family, a painful ending with regard to them will occur and I may have to sever ties with them. Do you agree with this interpretation? =O

  23. Inger Bråthen June 14, 2017 at 9:50 am

Yes, it can be too much conflict in this relationship.

  24. Inger Bråthen June 14, 2017 at 10:25 am

Hi. It doesn’t have to be one of the other. You can be in contact with them, but with boundaries. 🙂

  25. Chrissy June 20, 2017 at 5:42 am

Hi, I had the Ten of Swords and The King of Wands as how my ex partner feels about me. I was slightly concerned when the combination meant violence. Can you confirm that’s what it means? Thank you

  26. Inger Bråthen June 20, 2017 at 4:44 pm

It can mean he feels defeated….

  27. rachel June 23, 2017 at 11:19 pm

Hi Inger! What are your thoughts on 6 of cups clarified by reversed 10 of swords? the 6 of cups was drawn as advice for a romantic situation. do you think this combo could be pointing me towards letting go of the relationship, and to just remember the good times now?

  28. Inger Bråthen June 24, 2017 at 10:05 am

I feel you will let this relationship go for now.

  29. Elisa July 3, 2017 at 6:33 pm

    Hi Inger,

I did a relationship spread for a former couple that broke up last year. Since then strange events have occured and she wanted to know what her ex feels oder thinks about her. His cards were 5 of cups, 2 of wands and 10 of swords. To me it looks like he feels a deep pain, almost like it’s swallowing his soul and he’s facing regret and loneliness. I’m just not sure how to evaluate this in regards with the 2 of wands, like he has still something on his mind, a plan or an idea, but he’s not going to pursue it, either due to hopelessness or too much false pride? What do you think about this?
    Kind regards, Elisa

  30. Inger Bråthen July 4, 2017 at 8:12 pm

Hi. The 2 of wands can mean he wants to manifest a new relationship but has not met the right person and is feeling it difficult to connect with the people he meets.

  31. Rafael July 11, 2017 at 4:46 am

Hi Inger . What does the Death card and 10 of swords indicate? Thanks.

  32. Inger Bråthen July 13, 2017 at 6:29 pm

You could be going through a major shift and transformation that will completely change how your beliefs and have a renewal.

  33. Margo August 2, 2017 at 12:47 pm

Hi Inger I recently pulled 3 cards about my ex and I. We see each other often (we work across the street from one another) but do not talk. He ghosted me about 8 mos ago. The cards I pulled in order were the 2 of cups, 10 of swords, and the ace of wands. How do I interpret this. The energies seem difficult to reconcile. Will you please give my your thoughts?

  34. Inger Bråthen August 3, 2017 at 5:07 pm

Let this man go. Once you do, you will be free, and you will feel so much better. Don’t be surprised if he starts communication with you again once you have moved on from him. These cards can mean he has problems with committing but enjoys flirting.

  35. zar August 17, 2017 at 8:10 pm

hello inger. i pulled knight of swords clariried by 10 of swords to represent how he feels about me deep down….not feeling very well liked! ;(

  36. Inger Bråthen August 19, 2017 at 7:25 am

Hi. It could mean this person is feeling betrayed and is carrying around a lot of past memories of difficult relationships. He could be very fearful of rejection.

  37. Shana October 9, 2017 at 5:43 am

Hi, What can these 4 cards together, in the order below mean in a relationship meaning? The last card 10 of swords is the Outcome.

    (1) 4 of Wands (2) Knight of Cups (3) 10 of Pentacles (4) 10 of Swords

    Thanks you.

  39. Inger Bråthen October 25, 2017 at 5:53 pm

Hi. Ten of swords often means some trouble in paradise. It can be the end of a relationship, or the need to be in the relationship in a completely new way. The seeker wants security, but maybe they feel the need for security has stumped their growth in the relationship and now they will have to change/adjust. There is a door opening in this relationship and if the seeker is willing they will have completely new experiences from what they are used to.

  40. Michael October 30, 2017 at 9:52 pm

Hello Inger. I got the 10 of swords come up in the situation/present position and the queen of pentacles followed it as a challenge. so i crossed the 10 of swords and got the fool. what would you say to the fool. being a crossing card/obstacle? this was a reading about a girl i like. also when doing tarot, do the cards pick up on everything surrounding you even though it has nothing to do with the question you asked? because every time i get into a argument with my mother, and do a reading about my love interest, i get negative cards; should i wait to do readings when this happens?

  41. Inger Bråthen November 1, 2017 at 11:13 am

Do the readings when you are in a positive frame of mind and try and not let other’s negativity affect you. Know also that you are in charge of your destiny and the tarot can tell you about how you are going, but you can also change things in your life to have the best outcome for yourself. Keep your mind on the big picture. What are your main goals in life and never stop following your own dreams and goals 🙂 The fool reversed could mean you need to reprioritise and think about what is truly important to you in life. 🙂
